Getting rid of fat by eating?  Sign me up!!  These foods do the work for you in your battle against the bulge.  They have been proven to melt lipids away.  Gotta love that!

Almonds
Sometimes you feel like a nut!  Almonds have a high amount of alpha-linolenic acid, which speeds the metabolism of fats.  A study in the International Journal of Obesity found that by eating 3 ounces of almonds daily dieters dropped pounds and body-mass index by 18%.  Those that did not consume almonds as part of their diet only dropped 11%.  Add almonds to your salads or eat them alone as a snack.

Berries
Fruits like strawberries and raspberries are loaded with vitamin C and can help burn up to 30% more fat during exercise.  This was suggested from research at Arizona State University at Mesa.  Add berries to your cereal or yogurt for a yummy healthy treat or make a smoothie with fat free milk and pure sugar cane sugar or stevia.

Cinnamon
Seinfeld said it best.  “People love cinnamon. It should be on tables at restaurants along with salt and pepper. Anytime anyone says, "Oh This is so good. What's in it?" The answer invariably comes back, Cinnamon. Cinnamon. Again and again."

Not only does this spice make certain meals taste better, but it can help you shrink that waste line.  Adding ¼ teaspoon to your food could prevent a post-meal insulin spike.  A post-meal insulin spike happens after you eat and it tells the body that it should store fat rather than burn it.  Add cinnamon to oatmeal, cream of wheat, yogurt, coffee, hot chocolate, or a baked apple.

Mustard
Mellow, yellow.  Turmeric is the spice that gives mustard it's color, and according to a study in the journal Endocrinology, this may slow the growth of fat tissue.  So we should all be asking, “Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?"  Substitute mustard for mayo or add a dash of turmeric to your cauliflower, broccoli, roast or whatever you please.

Orange you glad this juicy citrus favorite helps melt away fat?  Flavones are compounds found in oranges, which burn fat.  In a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, women who ate the most flavones had a much lower increase in body fat over a 14-year period.  So peel one and snack on the slices or drink freshly squeezed OJ with pulp.

Soybeans may be small and green, but their health benefits are giant.  They are filled with a compound called choline, which blocks fat absorption and breaks down fatty deposits.  Add ½ cup edamame to a salad or warm them up and sprinkle some sea salt for an appetizer or snack.

Sweet Potatoes
You'll taste sweet success in keeping your waistline small by eating these.  Sweet potatoes are packed with fiber.  This prevents a drastic insulin jump and so less fat is absorbed by the body.  Bake a small sweet potato, about the size of 2 deck of cards, and add low-fat cottage cheese or real maple syrup.

Swiss Cheese
Say cheese!  Foods rich in calcium reduce fat-producing enzymes and increase fat breakdown, according to Dr. Michael B. Zemel of the Nutrition Institute at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  When compared to other cheeses though, Swiss has the most calcium.  Add a slice to a sandwich or put some on high-fiber crackers for a cheesy snack.
