Who's behind InsureMonkey?
Alex is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of InsureMonkey, a company he co-founded in 2005 as a way to simplify and open access to health insurance for everyone. Alex is responsible for overseeing the company's strategic direction, planning and implementation. His commitment to openness has led to the many strategic advantages of the InsureMonkey.com website. Among these is a risk-free shopping experience with no requirement to submit personal information, a member rating system to provide feedback on the most popular health insurance plans, and an easy way for members to build an insurance plan with the benefits they choose.
Alex has built his career in the insurance and services industries on a principled work ethic, a drive to help people and a commitment to do what is right. He previously opened a captive insurance agency in 2001 and built it into one of the top 2% of agencies nationwide from among more than 15,000. His success is a result of an unrelenting focus on customer service, deep understanding of marketing, and an ability to bring together top talent around a common purpose.
Alex developed a strong work ethic early when he started working as a 10-year-old boy and later as a full-time employee at age 13. His hard work paid off and at age 18 Alex started his own company in the automotive services industry, employing over 200 people in 5 locations.
Alex lives in Las Vegas with his wife and two children.
Kurt is Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of InsureMonkey. He manages the infrastructure needs of the company including technology, customer service and licensed agents, and operating facilities. His technical expertise with health insurance plans, long standing relationships with the nation's top health insurance companies, and deep background in management have helped drive the foundational success of the company. His reputation with health insurers has made for a seamless partnership and allows InsureMonkey to offer the most comprehensive plans available nationwide.
Kurt has over 17 years in the insurance industry where he most recently served as a health insurance consultant for Dennis Financial Services, specializing in Health Savings Accounts, Health Reimbursement Arrangements and Partial Self-Insured Programs.
Kurt started his career in operations management with some of the world's largest restaurant franchises.
Mark is responsible for developing and overseeing the InsureMonkey brand, including customer engagement and acquisition, social architecture, and customer lifecycle. Mark has 15 year's experience in public and private sector marketing and communications, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 gaming, technology and communications companies.
Prior to joining InsureMonkey, Mark served as president/GM of Las Vegas-based Mojo Communications, an advertising and marketing firm. While there, he managed the strategic development and marketing for clients in the financial, real estate and health care industries. Previously, Mark worked in leadership positions with Nevada-based advertising agencies managing customer acquisition for Cox Communication's video and high-speed Internet assets, entertainment assets for the Las Vegas Hilton, and online assets for The Howard Hughes Corporation.
Mark started his career in politics as the political director for Nevada's State Senate Majority Leader responsible for political and policy related activities. He holds a B.A. in Communications from UNLV.

Where did the idea for InsureMonkey come from?
Alex and Kurt became interested in the simple idea of helping their friends and family get affordable health insurance. On their own. Online. Easily.
So they looked where any right minded person would - Google.
They entered "health insurance." "Health insurance quotes." "Affordable health insurance." They found a lot of websites, but nothing made sense. Nothing made the process easy. Every site required invasive personal information before you could even look at quotes.
So they decided to create a site that was easy to use, friendly, and required no personal information to shop for the best rates and the best health plans available.
That decision led to many long hours of planning. And development. The site launched in April 2009 and forever changed the face of how people get affordable health insurance.
